HISTORY - Music training began in grade three as
the selected representative for primary school at the local Rotary Music
Festival in Lethbridge, Alberta. Recruited by a local Royal Conservatory voice
teacher. Remained her student for 10 years, participating at a provincial
level.
When
12 years old, she was offered a recording contract in New York City, “They said, you could
be the next Tanya Tucker, which,” she says, “quite frankly scared the socks off
my conservative parents who said, “absolutely not”.”
Jodi Faith is often asked to summarize her passion and purpose in one statement.
She says a perfect mission statement for her life is:
Some want to live within the sound
of church or chapel bell,
I want to run a rescue shop
within a yard of hell.

ü When
asked to sum up her past experiences and why, at 40 something she is a ‘new
emerging artist’ Jodi Faith shares an inspirational story of hope and
restoration.
“At
16, I was on my first date with a fellow instead of out with my friends. That
night, three of them died in a DUI accident. Losing all sense of purpose and
fearing mortality, I suppose, I ended up embarking on a journey including drug
and alcohol abuse, marriage by 18… 3 kids by 24… Music ceased to be a part of
my life although even then I wrote the occasional song… including one which I
began in 1984. (*Finished in 2004 and titled ‘Second Chance’)
Fast forward through an outrageously chaotic life until finally 11 years ago, when my life disintegrated! My then husband threatened to kill me and ended up in jail… We lost everything we’d worked for… and my three kids and I ended up displaced, homeless, and hopeless.
God
met me in the midst of that storm… and rebuilding my life with His help and
thru the support of ‘Family’, I was able to find fulfillment, purpose and
complete restoration in the years that followed.
A
number of years later, as a single mom, proudly conquering the challenges of
life, I was called into the ‘principal’s office’ to discuss my son’s academic
career. (The coolest part of my new life is discovering these
‘divine appointments’ in such simple, everyday ways!)
When
that principal, Mr. Robert Faith,
asked me to marry him a couple of years later, in 1999, there was one
condition… that I would sing at the wedding… I Did! It was that day, I believe
that this career was born again!”
